AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: The Radical Question by David Platt

There is a disconnect between what we say we believe and what we’re willing to sacrifice.  That disconnect is the sworn enemy of this book.

This is a short little audiobook to be sure; clocking in a little longer than the average sermon.  It’s packed with stories, challenges, and one question posed at the climax—a biblical battering ram delivered to the front door of the American dream.

I won’t ruin it for you by telling you what the one question is (although you can easily find it in the book description—if you haven’t already read it, wait).  I’m afraid it will sound dreadfully trite out of the context of this amazing little book.  You’ve heard it posed before, to be sure, but not like this.

Lloyd James does a satisfactory job as the narrator, especially nearer to the end.  I listened to Radical, the longer book from which this one is derived, last year and David Platt did a phenomenal job narrating his own book.  I wish he could have been tapped to read this one.  It would have pushed this recording from “merely” impacting to must-listen.

Download this audiobook right now and get ready to have a mirror held up to your faith in Christ; its true substance tested, and the necessity of the radical lifestyle revealed.
