{"id":100,"date":"2012-03-22T07:12:44","date_gmt":"2012-03-22T14:12:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nickduffel.com\/?p=100"},"modified":"2012-03-22T07:12:44","modified_gmt":"2012-03-22T14:12:44","slug":"audiobook-review-worship-by-john-macarthur","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nickduffel.com\/?p=100","title":{"rendered":"AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: Worship by John MacArthur"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/97816104529601.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-103\" title=\"9781610452960\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/97816104529601.jpg?resize=250%2C300\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"300\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/97816104529601.jpg?w=363&amp;ssl=1 363w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/97816104529601.jpg?resize=250%2C300&amp;ssl=1 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/><\/a>\n<p>This is the best, most biblically-based book on worship I have come across.\u00a0 Its one short-coming is its unnecessarily long length.<\/p>\n<p>John MacArthur does an excellent\u2014and very thorough\u2014job of expositing a biblical view of worship.\u00a0 Calling into question all our pre-concieved notions of what acceptable worship of a holy God looks like, he touches on everything from worship throughout the biblical narrative to worship styles over the last 200 years.<\/p>\n<p>I particularly liked the chapters dealing with Jesus\u2019 words in John 4 about true worshippers worshipping in spirit and in truth.\u00a0 Those words have such depth, and MacArthur gives them the time and attention they deserve; devoting a huge chunk of the book to it.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of huge chunks of book, MacArthur spends a lot of time expounding on the various attributes of God (His holiness, His omnipresence, etc).\u00a0 While this section is, like the rest of the book, very well-written, it seems only loosely connected to the overall subject and makes the book unnecessarily long.<\/p>\n<p>One final praise: the narration is very well done.\u00a0 I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to take their worship of God more seriously.<\/p>\n<p>Please Note: This audiobook was gifted as a part of the christianaudio Reviewers Program in exchange for my unbiased review of this work.
