{"id":738,"date":"2013-06-19T08:04:09","date_gmt":"2013-06-19T14:04:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/nickduffel.com\/?p=738"},"modified":"2013-06-19T08:04:09","modified_gmt":"2013-06-19T14:04:09","slug":"be-generous-from-the-archive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nickduffel.com\/?p=738","title":{"rendered":"Be generous [from the archive]"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p><span style=\"line-height:1.5;font-style:inherit;\">I read recently that the key to not being a total goob with social media is generosity.\u00a0 People like to talk about themselves, and draw attention to themselves.\u00a0 The problem is others grow tired of hearing you rattle on about your interests on Facebook or boast about your exploits on Twitter. \u00a0\u201cYou according to you\u201d is only interesting for so long.<\/span>\n<p>So, generosity\u2013sharing the spotlight\u2013is key to social media success.\u00a0 Can you generously draw attention to what others are doing?\u00a0 Give them a little shout out?\u00a0 Shut up about yourself and what you\u2019re selling?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/columban-openness-generosity-and-courage.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"columban-openness-generosity-and-courage\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.nickduffel.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/columban-openness-generosity-and-courage.jpg?resize=300%2C195\" width=\"300\" height=\"195\" loading=\"lazy\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the same with leadership.\u00a0 It\u2019s meant to be shared, and even given away.\u00a0 Interestingly, leadership\u2014which we know is really influence, primarily\u2014is a little counter-intuitive in this area;
